Investigations

Investigations are by their nature complex, unique to the circumstances of the event and intended to learn the facts about something complex or hidden,. Investigating is often formal and official, an orderly attempt to obtain information about or to make a test of something, to search out and examine the particulars especially in an attempt to find motive, cause or culprit.


Establishing witnesses, interviewing, obtaining written statements and gathering evidence needs to follow well established procedures to protect all parties and are normally time consuming.


Complainants and accused are entitled to the same level of protection throughout any investigation.


Independent of any employment arrangements we are able to search out and examine the particulars of any event in an attempt to learn the facts and provide a comprehensive report with recommendations as to what actions may need to be considered by the company.


A typcial Investigation Process will follow a strict / tested methodolgy:

  • Complaint received or misconduct alleged
  • Check employment agreements and policies
  • Invoke suspension if appropriate
  • Gather relevant information
  • Conduct investigation interviews
  • Provide opportunity to comment on information gathered
  • Consider the facts and draft findings
  • Provide draft findings for review and comment
  • Confirm findings
  • Commence disciplinary process if appropriate
